Requirements Management Training

Requirements Management (RM) is a DHS specialization that complements the Technology Manager (TM) certification and provides a framework for the training and professional development of DHS acquisition professionals who perform technical functions that involve systems engineering, program management, test and evaluation, systems integration, as well as reliability and maintainability. This specialization provides a means for enhancing the acumen and professionalism of requirements managers and acquisition personnel performing these technical functions.

AQN 101	DHS Fundamentals of Systems Acquisition	AQN 101 is an entry-level course that presents a broad overview of the systems acquisition process. It introduces the Acquisition Life Cycle Framework (ALF), as well as the many business and technical disciplines involved in acquiring systems that help the men and women of the Department of Homeland Security protect our homeland.
FAC 061	DHS JRIMS Overview	The JRC offers requirements and acquisition professionals the opportunity to receive a broad view of the DHS JRIMS process and associated systems. JRIMS Overview students will learn the following: Formation and development of the JRC; Benefits of the JRIMS process; four types of capability analyses; six types of requirements documents; and Requirement document sequencing
FQN 466	Core Concepts of DHS JRIMS	This four day classroom course, entitled Core Concepts of DHS Operational Requirements Engineering will provide students with the basic tools and knowledge needed to generate requirements documentation in accordance with the JRIMS process. It will also include fundamental instruction on how the JRC and JRIMS are complementary to the Acquisitions Lifecycle and Systems Engineering Lifecycle.
FQN 491	Developing and Managing DHS Requirements	This course provides a comprehensive understanding of how to define, analyze, and manage requirements within DHS starting from capability analysis through solution analysis (when an Acquisition Program enters the Obtain Phase). It provides in-depth insight into DHS standards for the requirements process and its relationship to acquisition management. Course Objective: Understanding the importance of writing good requirements; Impact on acquisition program; Impact to solution; Impact on Test and Evaluation; Identify types of solution requirements (capability, operational, functional, non-functional, and technical); Understand the requirements generation process; how to define, analyze, and document requirements; Capability analysis; Solution analysis (developing and refining CONOPS and Operational Requirements); Understand how to manage requirements residual issues; Brief refresher of the JRIMS Validation and Endorsement process; Validation vs Endorsement; Understanding Scoring and Validation of requirements documents; Integration between JRIMS, ALF, and SELC requirements documents and acquisition documents.
CLR 151	Analysis of Alternatives	This course presents the process used by the Department of Defense (DoD) to conduct an Analysis of Alternatives in support of requirements, system acquisition and resourcing. The AoA is the analytical process that DoD organizations use to assess and prioritize potential materiel solutions to a validated military capability need, and is applicable to similar DHS processes
CLR 250	Capability Based Analysis	This online course provides a comprehensive introduction to planning and organizing Capabilities-Based Assessments (CBAs) in DoD, and is applicable to DHS. The module contains four lessons: CBA Definitions, Pre-Planning Research, CBA Team Building and Planning, and the CBA Study Phase. Graduates will have the knowledge, skills, and abilities to conduct and support effective and efficient Capabilities-Based Assessments (CBAs) in support of the Joint Capabilities Integration and Development System (JCIDS).
CLE 301	Reliability and Maintainability	This is an online course designed for DoD, but also applicable to DHS components. The reliability and maintainability of military systems are integral elements of mission success and major determinants of the total ownership cost. An important objective of defense acquisition programs is to ensure that weapons systems achieve their user-defined Reliability, Availability, and Maintainability (RAM) performance requirements. This module defines RAM; explores the significant influence of Reliability and Maintainability on systems; and provides practical techniques that may be applied in an acquisition program to achieve the desired levels of Reliability and Maintainability.
