The mission of the Office of Shore Forces (CG-741) is to provide unity of command and align shore structures to improve mission execution of all Coast Guard missions in the maritime domain.

The Office of Shore Forces (CG-741) is the Coast Guard’s capability manager and the CG headquarter's planning coordinator for all assigned Shore Forces to include:

  • 2 USCG Activities
  • 2 Areas
  • 9 Districts
  • 37 Sectors
  • 12 Sector Field Offices (SFO)
  • 37 Command Centers
  • 12  Vessel Traffic Services (VTS) Center
  • 12 Marine Safety Units (MSU)
  • 19 Marine Safety Detachments (MSD)
  • 1 Marine Inspection Detachment (MID)

 

The Shore Forces workforce includes members of Prevention, Response, and Mission Support, representing both DCO and DCMS backgrounds.
