Each Domestic Annual Report collates data from the Coast Guard’s Marine Information Safety and Law Enforcement (MISLE) database regarding vessel population, inspections conducted, and deficiencies issued for the respective calendar year.
In 2020, the Coast Guard’s fleet of responsibility contained 19,398 vessels subject to inspection. Coast Guard Marine Inspectors (MIs) conducted 18,414 vessel inspections. Each annual report for the U.S. Flag fleet serves as a powerful tool and waypoint to study trends, identify key performance indicators, and bring attention to issues in the fleet.
If there are questions regarding any of the fleet data reported, points of contact are listed on the contact information page of this report.
