2023 Deficiencies PDF

The port state control (PSC) deficiency flyer was developed at the request of the maritime industry to provide an easily accessible and shareable snapshot of the top detainable deficiencies discovered during PSC exams conducted by the U.S. Coast Guard for a given year. The information contained in the flyer is taken from the corresponding PSC annual report. The maritime industry is encouraged to share these flyers with their superintendents, surveyors, and ships’ crew and use the information in both the flyer and the PSC annual report to train relevant staff both on board and ashore. Sharing information and working together will allow us to advance the maritime industry, reduce substandard shipping, and ensure the maritime sector is a safe for all.
