Incident Management Assist Team (CG-IMAT)

Our Mission Statement:  "As a Deployable Specialized Forces (DSF) unit, the CG-IMAT’s mission statement is to assist Operational Commanders to prepare for, respond to, recover from, and mitigate the effects of all risks and all hazard incidents and events.”

Our Capabilities (What we do):  

  • Response Support Capability: The CG-IMAT will provide, if requested qualified and proficient National Incident Management System (NIMS) Type 1 and Type 2 Incident Management Assistance Teams and individuals to assist operational commanders manage incidents. 
  • Training Support Capability: The CG-IMAT will assist Areas, Districts, Sectors, Bases and Force Readiness Command (FORCECOM) by supporting Incident Command System training and on-going efforts to qualify for position-specific qualifications. This can be completed through various means to include unit level visits, ICS overview workshops. Additionally, if requested as members of an ICS certification process at the COMDT, Area, District or Sector level to enhance the Coast Guard’s response capabilities.
  • Exercise Support Capability: The CG-IMAT will assist, if requested in the design, planning, training, conduct and evaluation of exercises, plans, procedures and capabilities both at national and regional level. (See tab for Requesting Training support.)

How to Request CG-IMAT:  

  • CRITICAL: For Response-immediate assistance during the initial Critical Incident Communications (CIC) call the CG-IMAT 24-hr watch, Command Duty Officer at 757-448-5572.
  • SCHEDULED: For routine Training or Exercise support follow the Request-For-Forces (RFF) process.
